【走り湯】

奥行き5メートルの洞窟の中から源泉が湧き出すという、日本でも珍しい横穴式源泉。日本三大古泉のひとつ。山から湧き出した湯が、海まで飛ぶように勢いよく走り落ちていったのが「走り湯」の由来とされています。発見は約1300年前、鎌倉時代には源頼朝や北条政子らも入浴したと伝えられています。伊豆山（いずさん）神社の神湯として信仰され、現在も神事に用いられています。約70℃の湯が毎分170リットル湧出し、周辺には引き湯している伊豆山温泉の宿もあります。

[Running hot water]

A horizontal hot spring source, which is rare even in Japan, where the source springs out from a cave with a depth of 5 meters. One of Japan's three major ancient springs. The name “Hashiriyu” is said to have originated from the fact that the hot water that gushed up from the mountain rushed down to the sea as if it were flying. It was discovered about 1,300 years ago, and it is said that Minamoto no Yoritomo and Hojo Masako bathed in it during the Kamakura period. It is worshiped as the sacred hot spring of Izusan Shrine and is still used for Shinto rituals. 170 liters of water with a temperature of about 70 degrees gushes out every minute, and there are hotels in the Izusan Onsen area that draw hot water.
